With a special introduction by Alan Dershowitz, What Israel Means to Me is a collection of individual stories by some of the world’s most distinguished politicians, diplomats, journalists, artists, scholars, and religious leaders, who share their personal connections to Israel’s history, land, people, politics, and faith.
The diverse contributors range from Theodore Bikel, Rabbi Harold Kushner, and Ed Koch to David Mamet, Erica Jong, and Natalie Portman.
Rabbi Vernon Kurtz, Rabbi of North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park and President of the World Organization of the Zionist Arm of the Conservative Movement, leads the book group discussion.
